24 Shape Configuration—is a visual expression that comes directly out of a well defined process. Simple rules around contrast, tone, line and shape limit variables while simultaneously allow for endless variety. The grid system is custom built to accommodate the specific shapes it contains. Squares and circles bisected horizontally, vertically and diagonally repeat. This pattern makes for a stable and predictable picture. But the rules applied to each shape creates opportunities for endless variation and hand-drawn textures that bring the surface to life through a natural tension. Sameness and difference interact in unexpected and unpredictable ways. Each 24 Shape Configuration is identically different.
